STR Lat/Lon Conversion

This program will convert the Section-Township-Range (STR) for a parcel of land to the latitude/longitude (lat/lon) of the center point of the section. It will also do the reverse and determine the appropriate STR for a given lat/lon.
Tips
  • The user must know what format the Lat/Lon is given in, either degrees.minutes or fraction (decimal) degrees. Degrees.minutes is in common use. An example entry would be: 24.444 would be entered for 24.44.4 (24 degrees 44.4 minutes).
  • In decimal degrees the corresponding latitude would be: 24.75
  • Input of the the wrong Lat/Lon format can makes a big difference in which STR is returned by the program.
  • The input on the STR is not case sensitive so the following are equivalent: 1 02N 02E and 1 2n 2e.
