Florida Center for Wildfire and Forest Resources Management Training
In 1999 the Florida Center for Wildfire and Forest Resources Management Training (FCW&FRMT) was created by the Legislature to provide needed training to the public and private sector in forest resource management, prescribed fire, and wildfire management.
There are two separate training facilities operating under the umbrella of the FCW&FRMT, the Withlacoochee Training Center located just north of Brooksville, in the Withlacoochee State Forest, and the Welaka Training Center located near Palatka in the Welaka State Forest. Not all training is held at these sites, but also conducted at other locations statewide, under the auspices of the Training Center, on an as needed basis.
Our curriculum objectives are comprehensive, flexible and ever expanding in order to meet the needs of state and federal agencies, local fire departments and private sector land managers. We invite and encourage comments and recommendations
regarding training needs, curriculum development, and
course content. Our goal is to provide the highest
quality training and meet the objectives of the Center.
