Pandion Systems will offer free, 6-hour Fire in Florida's Ecosystems training sessions around Florida through March 2002. Some abbreviated training sessions also are being offered in conference settings. Please contact us to arrange a training session near you!

  • Background on Fire in Florida, including
    • "Fire in the Southland" Educational Video
    • Review of Basic Fire Ecology (LCD projector slide show)
    • The Local and Regional Fire Story (Regional DOF representative)
  • Tour of Instructional Materials (including a live view of the
    CD-ROM)
  • Modeling of FIFE Activities with Workshop Participants
  • Training Video of Educators Performing FIFE Activities
  • Field Trip and Activity in a Fire-Maintained Landscape
  • Demonstration of Prescribed Fire Gear and Tools (DOF representative)
  • Discussion of Potential Field Trip Sites and Additional Resources
  • Closing, Evaluation, and Presentation of Certificates of Completion

getting geared up

Maps to your training site will be provided at least one week in advance. Materials and lunch will be provided during training. We will share transportation to the field site, which is usually close to the training facility. You should have: field clothing, hat, rain gear, camera, binoculars, field guides, hand lens, bug repellent, sunscreen, water bottle, field bag, sense of adventure.
