The Division of Forestry administers a range of grant programs and technical services to landowners, as well as training and educational opportunities.

Located throughout the state, contact these units for can assistance with burning permits, fire mitigation or fire management services, opportunities to volunteer on a state forest, and assistance with seedling sale orders.

County Foresters can provide a variety of services and information to landowners, teachers, students, and communities, serving as the local contact for many of the programs listed below.
Services
If a landowner does not have the necessary manpower or other resources needed, and no private contractors are available, then the Division of Forestry may provide fire management assistance with fire line plowing, prescribed or agricultural burning.
Voluntary on-site Courtesy Checks for assessing potential water quality impacts from present or past (within a two year period) forestry operations, such as timber harvesting, site preparation, forest roads, or stream crossings.
Grant Programs
Firefighting equipment on loan to the State for use in rural and wildland fire protection programs.

To protect environmentally important forest areas that are threatened by conversion to non forest uses and, through the use of voluntary conservation easements and fee simple purchases, to promote forest land protection and other conservation opportunities.
Provide non-industrial private forest landowners programs to assist them in implementing forestry and wildlife practices.
Assistance with the improvement and maintenance of timber, wildlife, soil and water, recreation, aesthetics, as well as forage resources for private forest landowners with at least 25 acres of forest land.
Provides rural communities with technical assistance in the design and development of forest-based projects while acting as a liaison between communities and the various government, private and not-for-profit organizations that provide financial and in-kind support for these projects. Publishes the Florida Wood Using Industry Directory, which is a compilation of over 330 forest based companies, producers and practitioners.
Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program
Provides federal financial, technical, and other assistance to organize, train, and equip fire departments in rural areas and rural communities to prevent and suppress fires.
Grant program for research work toward the recovery of federally-listed endangered and threatened plant species in Florida.
Available to organizations to develop or enhance urban and community forestry programs. Includes Supplemental Grant for Emergency Hurricane Projects.
Education
Discover first hand where products you use every day come from. Each June the forestry community provides educators in Florida an in-depth view of forestry in the state, showing them how sustainability is a key component for the forestry profession. Earn 30 CEU hours.
Forestry contests are held throughout the state each fall where FFA students compete in a variety of forestry applications with the winner representing Florida at the National FFA Convention.
Each summer the Division sponsors a Forestry Training Camp for FFA high school students to improve on their forestry applications, learn forestry skills, and for FFA teachers to learn more about teaching forestry.
Other Opportunities
Everybody loses when wildland arsonists strike. This non-profit organization supplies information to the public about woods arson, and acquires funds and distributes rewards for information about incidents of this senseless crime.
Help prevent and reduce losses from wildland/urban interface fires and foster community participation in applying Firewise principles.
Take a very personal and active role in protecting and fostering a long and healthy future for the forests in Florida. This non-profit organization provides the opportunity for citizens to help support programs and facilities in the state forests.

The Division has tower sites, work centers and district offices that have become obsolete and are offered for sale through a sealed bid process.
The Divisions' Andrews Nursery provides bareroot pine seedlings to serve and support the reforestation needs of Florida's citizens. Each summer we begin accepting seedling order forms for the following December- February tree planting season.
