Bare Root Tree Seedling
Ordering and Refunds
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry, provides bareroot pine seedlings to serve and support the reforestation needs of Florida's citizens.
Ordering Information
Beginning in July 1, 2008 the Florida Division of Forestry, Andrews Nursery begins accepting seedling orders for the upcoming tree planting season (December1, 2008- February 28, 2009). Completed forms may be submitted in person at Andrews Nursery or at any of the Division of Forestry district offices beginning July 1, 2008. Customers may also submit their order forms directly to Andrews Nursery by mail.
Seedlings are sold on a “first come, first served” basis until the inventory or each seedling type is depleted. Seedlings are generally sold “by the thousand”; however, customers with smaller needs may purchase either 500 or 250 seedlings. Orders above 1,000 seedlings must be in increments of 1,000.
Please submit all copies of your order form along with a check or money order payable to:
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE & CONSUMER SERVICES
Note: FULL PAYMENT MUST ACCOMPANY YOUR SEEDLING ORDER. ORDERS SUBMITTED WITHOUT FULL PAYMENT WILL BE RETURNED.

During processing, your order will be assigned a specific number. This number will be placed on a copy of your order form and returned to you. Always refer to this number when discussing your order with the nursery.
Where and when you receive your seedlings is entirely your choice. You may choose to pick them up at Andrews Nursery in Chiefland (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), or, for a small delivery fee, have them delivered to one of the Division of Forestry delivery points.

First, select “where” you wish to receive your seedlings and indicate that on your order form. The “when” is often more difficult to choose, especially with orders placed during the summer, well in advance of planting. The Andrews Nursery staff recommends you check the statement on the order form which says you intend to notify the nursery at a later time of the exact date you wish to receive your seedlings.
If, however, you are certain of when you wish to receive your seedlings, please enter a specific date on your order form. Please consult the delivery schedule for the specific dates that seedlings will be delivered to each delivery point.
When scheduling, rescheduling, or canceling the pickup or delivery of seedlings, please call the nursery at least five working days prior to the date scheduled. This lead time will assist the nursery in providing you the freshest possible seedlings on your specified date. If the nursery is unable to fill your order on the date specified, your will be contacted, and another date will be arranged.
Successful tree planting is dependent on three important factors:
- Careful harvest and packaging of quality seedlings by the nursery
- Prompt planting by the customer
- Adequate rainfall
|
All seedlings purchased must be planted on lands within the State of Florida.
While neither the Florida Division of Forestry nor the customer can control the rainfall, both must do their part to ensure successful reforestation. The Florida Division of Forestry makes every effort to provide fresh seedlings which are packaged in a quality-conscious manner.
Likewise, customers are encouraged to make every effort to ensure that their seedlings are planted in a quality-conscious manner as soon as possible after delivery.
The Florida Division of Forestry recognizes that seedling planting is a difficult task, and will gladly assist customers, whenever possible, to ensure a successful planting job.
Refunds
The Florida Division of Forestry will provide refunds according to the following schedule:
- Prior to November 17, 2008: Total refund
- November 17, 2008 to January 9, 2009: Total refund only if your seedlings are resold by the Florida Division of Forestry to another customer
- After January 9, 2009: No refunds
Requests for refunds must be made in writing to Andrews Nursery. If the Florida Division of Forestry is unable to supply the seedlings you ordered, you will receive a full refund (including delivery fee) for all, or that portion, of your unfulfilled order.
If, after paying for delivery, you elect to pick up your seedlings at the nursery, we will refund your delivery fee provided you notify the nursery of your change at least five working days prior to the scheduled delivery.
